Welcome to the December 2, 2008 edition of Mommy Bloggers Bloggy Carnival.
This is my first Carnival. I was screwing around on Blog Carnival and realized I set this up and thought, “Oh, well cool!” So I decided to give it a shot.
The Cool Mom Guide presents Worst Diaper Change Ever posted at The Cool Mom Guide. It’s funny, but I wasn’t laughing…
DebbieDragon presents Work at Home Writers Shouldn’t Wear Sweatpants posted at Empowering Mom. “The reason I am writing this post is not to dis my body image but just to remind others who have changed their lifestyles so much when starting out at home, doing your own thing, that exercise and eating habits should be included in your overall plan on a day-to-day basis…” continue reading »

(Note from Julie, ‘What He Has to Say’ is written by my friend and fellow writer J. Burrows. I’ve gotten asked previously if he is my husband. He’s not. I figure everyone gets enough of my life and views, I wanted the male perspective from another husband and father, to see life as he sees it.)
By J. Burrows
Hello all. Julie has requested I do some husband blogging, and I got to thinking why I don’t do more blogging about my married life. I certainly love my wife, and could not see marrying or being married to anyone else on earth or elsewhere really. But, in my free flow blogging style (hahaha that really is a joke) I could set out to talk about our wedding which was on the beach at the Outer Banks and was really beautiful, and inevitably I will say something that my wife will have found offensive. Is this something that is unique to me? I think not. My wife (and others) say that I am so funny, and yet as soon as something as said that could be remotely construed as being offensive if looked at 1 out of 21 ways, than that must have been the intent. continue reading »

So yesterday I take the boys grocery shopping. I was miserable from a bad reaction to the flu shot I got the day before and my children were driving me crazy. I can choose from any number of things they did to annoy me. My 7 month old didn’t want to sit in the cart yet didn’t want to be carried. My 3 year old asked (loudly) in line at the pharmacy,”Mom, when you fart do you say excuse me?”.
Needless to say, my patience was wearing thin. Grocery shopping is usually something I enjoy but I was thrilled when I was done. SO. Here I have a car full of groceries, mostly perishables. I have 2 children who are tired and hungry and no bottle for the baby (he drank the one I brought). I go to pull in my neighborhood and my street is completely blocked off. continue reading »

I’m going to start by saying I was the biggest blog skeptic out there. I didn’t exactly know what a blog was, nor did I particularly care. One of my best girls, Sarah, is a big time blogger. She has one herself and reads TONS of them. I didn’t see the point. The way I saw it, I only wanted to know what was happening in my friend’s lives and since they tell me themselves, why should I read about it as well? I always looked at posted pictures and even have a Blogspot blog to post pictures to send to family, but really never read anything.
That’s why when it was suggested to me that I start a blog, I was skeptical. I don’t even read what I write, why would anyone else? I started asking questions and found out blogs aren’t just boring day to day posts (well, some are) but most are informative, entertaining reads. continue reading »

Graciously, I take my bow…

My dear friend (even though we’ve never ACTUALLY met) and fellow mom blogger from Meghan’s Mindless Muttering has bestowed unto me the Kreativ Blogger Award. YAY! With this award, I am to post 6 things I value and 6 things I do not and then pass the honor to 6 other incredible bloggers. continue reading »

Now, I typically try to stay away from politics. In 10th grade, my social teacher gave me the most useful piece of advice ever. He told the class to never engage in conversation about religion or politics. Everyone has their own views on both subjects, and those views are not easily swayed.
However, I recently received word about a new blog that has been created by some women who have a strong opinion of VP candidate Sarah Palin. To quote the blog directly, they say - continue reading »

I have been challenged to start an all female fantasy football league. Its for women who love and women who hate football. It’s a fun and easy thing to do. Once the ladies I have invited (max 10) have joined, I’ll have an automatic draft using the default draft settings yahoo provides. We’ll all be assigned players to the team we created and each week will play one another, straight through the fantasy playoffs. I’ve also started a Yahoo Group, I’m trying to attract the attention of the Panther PR guy to then encourage them to have a “mom blog party” in one of the sky boxes of the Panthers. We can also occasional meet for a game at a local Sports Bar or have a play date at my house so the kids can get together. continue reading about my challenge

Hello to all. I am also a relative newcomer to this blogging thing, and the fatherhood thing. Thusfar my blogging experience has been message board trolling and getting removed from talkback sections of bad newspapers. Are there any good newspapers? Well, when I saw what Julie was up to, I just had to latch on. I have been following her aimlessly (and unsuccessfully) for years anyway, and it seems like a silly time to stop doing that. continue reading »
